About Chemeketa's Art Glass Program
Several years ago, Chemeketa Community College embarked on an exciting
journey. With an impressive vision, they set out to create a quality
Art Glass Program on their Salem, Oregon campus.
Developing a well designed Art Glass Program is a significant
undertaking, particularly when colleges in Oregon's Higher Education
System face challenging economic times. In spite of these challenges,
an energetic art faculty and college administrative team, have worked
together with glass businesses, art educators, and professional
glass artists, in a collaborative effort to provide creative funding
for a strong sequence of Art Glass Classes. The college has developed
quality Art Glass classes in flameworking, fusing and slumping, kiln casting, stained glass, and mosaics.
Chemeketa continues to develop a high quality Art Glass curriculum,
providing well-equipped glass studios and facilities for these classes,
and insuring that our students have an experience with glass that
is both inspirational and useful.
